Sweet potato massacre

Guess what I am having for dinner tonight??

A sweet potato YAY!

One of the best reasons why I love Sweet Potatoes is because i can stab it a billion times before microwaving!

Even if it's a little rinky dink knife like these. Aggression release is nice!

The Weekend

Aww, it's past by so quickly!

Here is a breakdown of what we did :)

Friday was spent with Nana, and Marc's mom. It was really nice and warm out so me and my mother in law went out to Lake Michigan. It was windy when we got there but it was still nice just to be outside and feeling the sun. I made Smoky Roasted Potato Soup from the Everyday Food magazine.

It was actually really good, but not enough to fill us up. I don't think I would make this again because it was actually quite a long process. First roasting the veggies, then cutting, then soup process, then mashing soup..etc.

Later, Marc and I had a movie night. We watched the following:

I think it's kind of obvious which choice was mine and which ones were Marc's. I think it took two movies for him to fall into my trap of the last one! I needed something light and stupid after those first two depressing ones.

Saturday was actually pretty enjoyable. I got a bread maker from Amazon.com and made a couple loaves for the family. We could be saving upward of 300-450 dollars per year by me just baking the bread fresh. It's so easy, you just dump the ingredients in the pan and turn the machine on! While the bread was baking, Marc expressed to me his need for a bike. I was sick of hearing it (already haha) so we got him a 40 dollar Schwinn off of Craigslist.
It's actually pretty cool, but not as cool as my bike. glorious.

It was still a semi-nice day weather wise, so we went to the park and rode around until we froze to death, since the wind was biting.

We had plans to use up our Restaurant.com coupon at Beer Belly's that night so we spent a bit more quality time with Nana watching The Edge and I made some Cheesy popcorn. Surprisingly, she loved it, which surprised me because it is so out of her realm of foods. It was this brand in case you're wondering.

Me, being a popcorn purist...I'm not a fan.

So after our movie and popcorn, Marc and I went on our date to the restaurant. We've been here before but man it's so good! We both had Blackened Grouper sandwiches and homemade French Fries! Marc's trying not to drink alcohol right now, so he stuck with Root Beer and I had an adult Shirley Temple since it was on special...delicious! Since we were under tab (had to spend 35 dollars, for 25 dollars off) for our meals, I just HAD to have the vanilla bean cheesecake which was FABULOUS! I should take pictures when we go out to eat! I keep forgetting my card at work, but I just stuck it in my pocket, so I wont forget! I really want to do that house tour for you guys soon, but man can I get some time alone??? It's hard! I'm hoping to do it tomorrow morning if I can get my butt in bed at a decent time tonight.

Anyway, back to our date. After dinner we went to the value cinema and saw Green Hornet! It was really good! The perfect mix of action and comedy...super cool! I especially liked how Seth Rogen looked! Is it weird that I think he's attractive?
In case you were wondering, we spent 24 dollars (that's with tip people!!) on dinner and 7.50 for the movies for a grand total of 31 dollars for dinner and a movie! I'm awesome LOL!

This morning was like the Twilight zone! It was sooo dark (because it has been raining all day), I thought my clock was lying! we ended up staying in bed until 11:30am!! That's late, yet enjoyable! I made another Everyday Food recipe, Chicken and Spinach Casserole.

Marc really didn't like this recipe although everyone else did (Marc's Aunt and Cousin were visiting nana today). So I'd call it a win! I used some bread that I had made the day before too.

Now, I am taking a break (extra long) from studying for two midterms.

Guys, I wish I knew what I was studying for. Right now I'm trying not to get upset about it because really I have time to figure it out...but I just wish I had even a slight idea. Ugh.

Oh well...no use getting too upset, right!!!

Hope you guys all had a good weekend! What did you do?

hedo

hedo=hello if you didn't know..ryhmes!

Was reprimanded by my sis that I have neglected the blllloooogggg.

I just finished a huge huge huge test and am studying for midterms at the moment. The past 3 days have been school, work, homework during work. I would be so intent on studying that I would have done math for 6 hours straight. Dear Lord, what has this world come to?!

Tomorrow I have to do a speech...

I was going to do the tour video last friday but Marc is always home so that's hard to do. Plus I forgot my xd card at work. I'm hoping to do that Fries-day.

Don't forget to drink your green beer!

Juggling

Yesterday I was at work and received a phone call from Marc. I could hear him fighting back tears when he told me he quit his job.

If you didn't know, Marc works (worked) as a caregiver for people with varying disabilities like Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrom, etc. He thrived at this job, I mean it was his life! The only problem was that Marc has a huge heart and that's great for the clients...but bad for the employers. You would think that is weird and couldn't be true, but the thing is that they took terrible advantage of him. They promised to help him with cutting back hours, only working on certain days, etc. Every promise was never put into practice. This is the second time this has happened to him so he is very discouraged.

So here is what happened, a week ago, another worker changed Marc's schedule without him knowing (he would be working two hours more, on a school night) or even discussing it with him. He talked to his employer about this, and the employer said the worker was supposed to talk to Marc about it. She did not. So yesterday came and Marc set out to leave at his regularly scheduled time when the other worker went crazy on him and said she was going to leave. So Marc quit. I think it was his breaking point. He called me from a parking lot, poor guy.

Anyway, we are very blessed to have a few financial breaks right now so we can survive on one paycheck..BUT, and that's a super duper Nicki Minaj Butt, that's barely cutting it and it's really scary. I was crunching numbers last night and without income compared to outgoing money were at around 60 dollars in the black. That's not enough! No savings, no emergencies, etc. We have about one months pay saved but we are also in school. I'm scared. You might be saying, why doesn't Marc just get a job, well I think he needs a break to kind of reconfigure what's going on in his life.

Marc has serious hurdles that he has to face everyday with his mental health. People think of it as a crock of shit, but it's just because that person might not have had the experience around real mental illness. Just keep thinking about my dear, dear Marc. He is trying so hard and it seems like has had to go through so much.

So anyway, Marc and I have decided to become a one car family, and will be doing some other skimping on the monthly bills. We have to really research how to do this, but I think it is the right decision. Even if I had to take the bus to school and work it would be TOTALLY worth it.

Love you guys, thank you for letting me vent a little bit.

P.S. Thanks to Deanna for giving me the idea to put my project playlist at the bottom of the blog! Go click on her name and check out her blog it's awesome already!

P.P.S. The first post on the "Tours Series" is going up tomorrow **** update, tour was postponed****!

Bad

Battling some serious problems right now, please say a few words for Marc...we really need the prayers. Thank you.

I'll talk about it later.

Have I died?

AND GONE TO HEAVEN??

look what I got to eat for lunch today....

and they all sang a hallelujah chorus.

It was beyond good, sweet potato and collard greens! I think I'm going to be dripping collards out of my pores soon because I had a BUNCH of them for dinner too. I was also super hungry because my gym class had us working extra hard today, so this was just BEYOND fantastic :)

I'm really tired, but feeling good! Tomorrow is Wednesday which means I have some extra time before class to get some chores done. One of my "chores" is to film a video tour of my Flat!!

(on a side note) does it bug you that I call where I live a "Flat"? I'm just so tired of saying I live in an Apt. Plus they are called Polish Flats!

Make sure to vote on the poll, I don't get to see who voted for what so if you just want to be anonymous, that's fine!

I forgot to mention, HAPPY PACZKI ( Pounch-kee) DAY! Have one for me guys, I can't afford the calories LOL!

Accents

I got my braces tightened yesterday

attractive isn't it LOL!

Here is a little vloggie for you, I want to here your accents too! I'm going to try to get Marc to do this so we can compare my words with his!

I went shopping today! I LOVE WORLD MARKET! I had never been in there before an it was so hard for me to get OUT! Have you been there? If not, please make it a must do!
Here are some pictures of things I bought.

A window curtain that I made into a shower curtain! Regular shower curtains are too wide so I made this one for the shower by cutting the tops and making button holes since my shower rod doesn't come off.

This rug is hand woven and onle 14 dollars! Marc and I love this kind of thing.

If you know anything about me, you'll know I can't be without incense for too long. We just ran out of some lime, cherry, vanilla scents so I bought some old classics: Frankincense and Nag Champa (FAVE).

This basket is for picnics, but perfect for winter as well! It holds our salt for icy walkways. Please forgive the salty floor, it's my entry way before getting into the actual house so I don't think I'll be mopping it until spring hits this cold ass state (sometime in August...hahaha I kid, I kid).

BOOKS! I can't resist a good sale. Half Priced Books is an awesome store, all this for 28 dollars! They're my favorite kind too...a person's struggle through addiction, and self abusive behavior! Does this mean I should become a counselor? I'm really thinking about it.

I also got my eyebrows threaded today, which I started to talk about in the vlog before my camera wanted to shut down on me. I loved it, the look is exactly what I wanted but man it HURT! I think she did a little bit of voodoo magic on my lazy eyebrow. I can still see the laziness though HA!

I LOVE YOU GUYS, THANKS FOR PUTTING UP WITH MY BUSY SCHEDULE AND SHOWING ME YOU CARE BY READING ABOUT MY LIFE!!!
