In The Dark

Today was just a tad on the boring side.

We were getting our electricity switched over from old school glass fuses to the breaker system. Turns out if you can't sell a home with our current system! (Nana is not selling right now, but just for future reference). So because the electricity was off most of the day so that the electrician wouldn't end up like this Marc and I sat around bored, trying to stay awake since we had to wake up at 7am.

At around 11 I decided that we really needed some groceries so I headed out to go take care of business. I have been trying to make coupons work for me like my sister does but my state is stupid and it just doesn't work out. I still got to do 5 double coupons today at Pick N Save but my bill was still crazy. I didn't even buy meat! Oh well.

Today was our first real flurry day, it's funny because I remember last year's first day was Dec. 1st too! I love the snow though, at least I have something pretty to look at instead of just being freezing! Our space heater kicks bootie too, awesome!

Today was just a tad on the boring side.

SO..it's official. Frankie has to go get his claws out and his kahones removed. He is too much of a little rebel and scratched Nana. I really don't know what to do with him. I love him, but he is being too much of a hellion. It'll be interesting to see how different he acts once he's fixed.

On to homework time. I have to write an essay critiquing another essay. Joy.

I'm hoping Marc and I can get our tree up this Friday and I'm enjoying some Hot cocoa by the fire, this really is a cozy time of year!

Cheers! P.S. I swear I'll get my act together one of these days and take my own pictures!

Schoolday highlights

Today is Tuesday which means....YOU GUESSED IT! school!!!

I started out with English and tried not to fall asleep, got home at 9:30am and totally crashed until noon. I didn't wanna get out of bed this morning boo hoo!

I had to get myself up though because my other class downtown starts at 1pm. I ate a pb&j and booked it downtown. IT WAS SO COLD!! I have to walk about 5 blocks to college so I was frozen icicles by the time I got to class.

After school let out I went to the library and picked out these books:

That last one might be hard to see but it is a polish book with audio cd's that help you learn Polish. I really need to learn it because today I was getting ready for work at about 4pm, I'm blow drying my hair and watching TV in my little after shower dress thing like this big:

(trust me i know I don't look like this LOL)

and I see Nana's head poke through the doorway! TALK ABOUT SCARE ME TO DEATH! She was talking to me in polish and I kept saying i don't understand, I don't understand, until she finally told me she was looking for Aspirin and had a headache. poor thing. I gave her some Motrin and put her in bed. She's lucky she didn't get an eyeful if you know what I mean.

Well anyway back to the sequence of events:

The library is located across the street from The Milwaukee Public Museum and they have a beautiful butterfly exhibit! I got to see the butterflies flutter around in their room!
I tried to take a picture but realized a little too late that my camera's SD card was in the laptop at home. Here's the butterfly wing!

I got home and was soo hungry so I made up a really yummy recipe! I also failed to take a picture of it :( because I left my camera in the car, and I was NOT going to go out and get it! COLD!

I named the recipe Bacon-y bok choy with sunny side egg

Are you grossed out? You shouldn't be it was sooo good!

3 slices chopped bacon
1 head of bok choy
1 clove of garlic, pressed or minced
1 egg

Cook the bacon until slightly starting to give off it's fat. Add all of the bok choy, stir continuously until the bacon is almost crisp and the bok choy has lost some of it's rawness. Add garlic and egg in the middle of the greens. cook until sunny side! Serve with greens around the egg. This would bee good with spinach, or swiss chard too! Eat your greens!

I also watched Dr. Phil's housewives (I'm so addicted to that show).

Now I am at work and watching the clock.. just an hour and a half left!

Goodnight!

It's a school day...

Today is a school day and I'm beat.

I went to both classes as usual and am glad I don't have to go back until next Tuesday! One really good thing that I found out in my history class is that I don't have to take the final exam if I get out of the class with a 90 average...YES! I know I'm quite up there so I just have to ace my next test and I'll be golden! This is perfect :)

I went to the library after class and picked out three books.

I'm half way through the Billie Holiday book and her life was TRAGIC! I highly recommend it. I love a good memoir.

So I must confess. I didn't go to Curves today..I had my gym clothes on and everything and i just couldn't get myself to go. It wasn't a self motivation thing (I walked today) it was more of a "Wow I really don't like Curves anymore". I can't get myself to go because there is no one there to relate to, and I feel like I would rather be riding a gym bike or using an elliptical. It's more what I am used to. Plus all the ladies there are old as the hills. So I'm trying to figure out what my next move is. I have a contract until April so should I just pay off my amount due which is 170$ (34 per month) and go to another gym? I would think that just finishing out with Curves and using my plan would be the best idea...but when next semester starts I wont be able to go to Curves, and go home to shower and clean up and then go to school! Curves is right next to the school and college is about 20 minutes from the house. I'm sorry but in the dead of winter I am not getting up earlier than 8am to clean off the car, dig out the car, go to Curves, drive home, shower, get ready, drive back to where curves is to go to class, and then go to work until 11pm.

Do you have any ideas for me? What do you think I should do? I have a mini treadmill at home?

One problem I've been trying to deal with (off the record haha) lately is seasonal depression. It just is sooo cold and windy and dark. It's hard for me to deal with. I'm taking advice from Tina at her Carrots and Cake blog and using this mantra "Get up, Get Dressed, and Get Going. I am spending too much time in bed I need to try harder! This is a big reason why I am pushing myself so hard in school next semester. I have so much time to be taking control over my life I just need to get going!

Tomorrow I am going to wake up at 9:30am and I'm going to accomplish these tasks:

Go to the bank
Go to the grocery store
Exchange purchase at Walmart
Do the laundry at the laundromat
Exchange pantry for cupboards (explained later)

I'll let you know if I can get all of my list accomplished but I feel pretty good about it!

Now enough with this topic for the moment, I've said my peace!

Goodnight!

New Counter :)

My father in law Andy set me up with a new counter top next to the stove which makes me SOOOOO HAPPY! I forgot to take a picture before heading to work but I'll add it on later!

Today was pretty simple, I finished up our Halloween costumes. Marc is going as the Jolly Green Giant and I will be Little sprout :) I added leaves to our costumes which took quite a bit of time, and we already have long johns that were dyed green, green body paint and green hairspray!

We hope to look like them but it's homemade so we will see! I know they probably wont be that green.

I went to both classes today, got pretty upset at the first one but trying not to dwell on it. I have to read a few chapters in History (so snooze worthy)

Needless to say I got in a few pages and had to quickly put it away before I fell asleep at work. How can I make that reading interesting? My mind always falls away from the page and I start thinking about other things! I have a test not next Tuesday but the Tuesday after that.

I need to start getting better at taking pictures of my meals! I love reading blogs where they take pictures of that so I'll try to remember! Since I am still on soft food, I had as follows:
Slimfast
Sandwich Thin, Smart Balance Peanut Butter, 1/2 Banana, Activia Yogurt
Whole Wheat Quesadilla w/ Black Beans, cheese, and hot sauce plus half a bag of brussel sprouts
And for dinner I just had some cinnamon oatmeal not much to look at but here is a picture anyway. I made it with milk which really helped the taste.

Since I have gotten my braces I feel SOOO ugly. I really don't know if anything has shifted but I feel so puffy in the face and under my eyes looks baggy and weird. I'm not sure what's going on but tomorrow I am going to straighten my hair and see if it makes me feel better. Sometimes a hair change can help. I've been wearing my hair curly lately just for times sake.

Can't wait to get off work in an hour! Today is my Friday! I'm celebrating with Asti and Get Him To The Greek!

G'night!

Chinese and Hookey

I woke up this morning trying to think of the many excuses I could give for not going to school. So I said forget it I don't need an excuse I'm sleeping in! And I did, until ELEVEN! Way too much sleep and I woke up feeling really bad for not going to school, but whats done is done and it really isn't that big of a deal. I know what is due on Thursday and I can get it done tomorrow no sweat!

I did end up going to my second class at 12:30 and it was a walk in the park. His class is very easy and laid back. After class I walked to the public library and I fell in love with it!! What a beautiful library wish I would have taken pictures. This is the biggest library in Milwaukee county and I could tell that they had put a lot of time and effort into it. I can't wait to go back again soon! The only problem was I got cat called 8 times!! I can't believe it! It really made me feel uncomfortable, come to find out the neighborhood really isn't that great. I just hope none of them try to bother me past the usual pick up lines and such.

At the library I picked up three stories that are based on Cinderella for class on Thursday and I also picked up a book that was recommended by library staff called Winter's Bone. So far it's pretty good. The Ozarks sound really scary though, very backwoods.

I finally found the time to paint my nails today. I love this color from OPI it's called little red wagon. I did this while watching Dr. Phil's housewives, my absolute favorite show on TV right now.

At work the wind was WHIPPING! They were calling for 50-60 mph winds and I don't think they were far off! Here are a few pictures from my car of Lake Michigan and some bush next to me :)

One thing really sucked though, I was making my oatmeal for dinner (which I was already very unhappy about having to eat) and it EXPLODED in the microwave! I ended up calling out for chinese and suffered my way through some pork fried rice and Hot and Sour soup. The soup was perfect for my braces but the damn rice got everywhere and I couldn't eat the pork. So frustrating but I did get full!

Now on to the rest of my evening, I'll be here at work until 11 and then home for a rest and a cuddle from Marc...awww!
