Frankie.

I forgot to explain why I didn't blog on Thursday.

Thursday was very sad, and very shocking (this is hard to write about because I imagine what happened over and over again)

Around 5-6am that morning I remember Frankie purring up to Marc and Marc was petting him. Frankie out of nowhere attacked Marc's arm and in a sleepy/angered state he put the cat in the other part of the basement.

Around 7am in the morning we both woke up to a loud banging on the door connecting our part of the basement to where we go up the stairs to Nana's house. Marc yelled out, upset that sleep was disturbed (this wasn't the first time it had happened). He opened the door and pretty much screamed OH MY GOD!! In a very distressed voice, it scared me to death. I immediately thought Frankie got to her face, maybe even her eye (I have no idea how I thought of Frankie so quickly) I fell out of bed to see Nana in the doorway, crying and covered in blood.

Her arm was viciously torn up. She said that she picked him up, and he bit and scratched her. I called all of our relatives to figure out what to do, we knew that this wasn't life threatening, yet it was dangerous because cat bites can become infected very quickly if not treated correctly. I had to go to school, so Linda came and took Marc and Nana to the ER.

I fortunately got out of school early because it was just a review day for the final exam and no one had any questions. So I went to the hospital and stayed while they were taking care of her wounds. She didn't get stitches because this infection can get infected so it needs to stay open. She thankfully, liked the attention at the hospital and was tough!

The cat had to be taken to animal services and euthanized. It's sad because I know this cat could have been so loving and great but because it was treated badly before we took him in he was mean and semi-wild. I'll really miss Franek.

Nana is doing well we keep checking her cuts and everything seems okay.

Glad that day is over with though, it was terrible.

In The Dark

Today was just a tad on the boring side.

We were getting our electricity switched over from old school glass fuses to the breaker system. Turns out if you can't sell a home with our current system! (Nana is not selling right now, but just for future reference). So because the electricity was off most of the day so that the electrician wouldn't end up like this Marc and I sat around bored, trying to stay awake since we had to wake up at 7am.

At around 11 I decided that we really needed some groceries so I headed out to go take care of business. I have been trying to make coupons work for me like my sister does but my state is stupid and it just doesn't work out. I still got to do 5 double coupons today at Pick N Save but my bill was still crazy. I didn't even buy meat! Oh well.

Today was our first real flurry day, it's funny because I remember last year's first day was Dec. 1st too! I love the snow though, at least I have something pretty to look at instead of just being freezing! Our space heater kicks bootie too, awesome!

Today was just a tad on the boring side.

SO..it's official. Frankie has to go get his claws out and his kahones removed. He is too much of a little rebel and scratched Nana. I really don't know what to do with him. I love him, but he is being too much of a hellion. It'll be interesting to see how different he acts once he's fixed.

On to homework time. I have to write an essay critiquing another essay. Joy.

I'm hoping Marc and I can get our tree up this Friday and I'm enjoying some Hot cocoa by the fire, this really is a cozy time of year!

Cheers! P.S. I swear I'll get my act together one of these days and take my own pictures!

Fire Alarm!

So right after I posted my blog last night, I heard an obnoxiously loud voice screaming ATTENTION, ATTENTION! The lights were flashing, and an alarm was blasting. Awesome, I said, (well lets keep this G-rated and pretend I said awesome) the fire alarm is going off! So I booked it to the fire alarm panel and went through the instructions on what to do when this happens. "Okay, okay press alarm ack, alarm ack again, press alarm silence, use mike to call all residents informing of alarm, hit alarm reset. done... PHEW".

Only the fun was just beginning. Residents start pouring out of the stairwells and into the lobby, each behind my back waiting to all ask me the same question "Is everything okay? Is this a real fire? what's going on, what's going on?"

I then turn green and yelled HULK SMASH!

I wish. I had to stay calm and remind everyone that once I found out, they would of course find out as well! The fire and police men came and gave me one of these numbers...

They were mad because I FOLLOWED DIRECTIONS and hit the system reset button. They said now I would have to go check every floor and make sure there was no fire. Which I did with a couple other residents. When I came back down to the lobby, they had already left. Come to find out by my operations manager that they should have checked the history on the alarm panel which would show them what they needed to do. ASSHATS. (excuse me I couldn't help myself on that one). So I pretty much risked my life doing the fire mens job. Oh well, I did what I was told to do and no one was hurt. Now I know what to do for next time and I can appropriately train the weekend workers in case it ever happens again.

Come to find out this whole fiasco happened because someone over cooked there dinner and opened their front door to let out the smoke. This led to the hallway smoke alarm to detect a fire and go off. Once the hallway alarms are triggered an emergency alarm goes off and the fire department arrives. The whole deal was just not what I had in mind when I went to work on a usually slow Sunday night!

Today was nice in comparison. Marc and I are getting ready for the electricity to be switched over to a breaker system on Wednesday so we cleaned up the basement some and went to the dump. Nana came downstairs complaining of being cold, come to find out she turned off the heater by flipping the switch. She also took my makeup removing sheets I have no idea where they are now. I need a vacation.

I made bok choy with bacon for dinner tonight YUM! I love bok choy you should try it if you haven't!

Last night I came home to the bed being really high off the ground IT'S AWESOME! Marc knows I HATE being on the ground especially during winter, it's colder and it's just gross to me, I don't know why. So he found all these milk crates hanging around the basement and decided to lift it up! It's nice for him too since he is so tall! Our life is weird. Don't judge!

Also in Frankie news...

He's still a real fine jerk. We have fixed up his diet and now he just wants to attack us all the time. Here he is plotting to kidnap me with duct tape. I see that look in your eyes dude, you dont fool me. We've been disciplining him with a spray bottle full of water and it seems to be helping. I'll keep you updated.

So until next time. PEACE.
