Spontaneous Combustion

Sometimes I feel that if there every was a person who could spontaneously combust it would be me.

Maybe it is due to the naturally occurring high iron in my blood (a phlebotomest tested me and almost flipped out at my highly unusual levels, I guess it's weird!) but sometimes I feel like I'm being cooked on the inside. This feeling especially happens right after a nap, or sitting for a while.

Anyway, my stress has finally gotten to me, and made me very sick yesterday. I left Biology, puked, went home, puked, called in sick at work, and then felt absolutely fine. OF COURSE!

Today all I have of reminded of said weird day are stomach soreness, weakness, and that weird overheating.

In other heat news, it was 77 degrees out today, LOVELY! It really pepped up my mood, and marc and I ate lunch alfresco at Palomino..my FAVORITE restaurant in Milwaukee! I had their blackened tofu salad with avocado, black bean and corn salsa, all topped with vegan ranch :) There was so much food there I have enough for three lunches! The outside dining is where the white truck is parked!

After our meal, with Beanka! We went for a walk by the lake and confirmed our dreams to live in Bay View. It's only 5 minutes away from our house, but a completely different atmosphere! I love it!

I meet with an oral surgeon tomorrow! I'm nervous but excited to see how much longer I have to wear braces!

Have you ever been tested for hemocromatosis? (sp) It's a genetic disorder that can become deadly, and one of the main symptoms is high iron counts. There's a blood test that you can take to see if you have the genetic markers for it. It runs in my family, so I have to be super careful about my iron intake, like I'm not allowed to even cook in cast iron skillets. I have one of the two genetic markers, which basically says that I can but won't necessarily develop the disease. I definitely think you should talk to your doctor about it because it can cause some major damage. I have an uncle with tons of health problems, and my aunt went through a series of heart attacks and strokes in her 50s, eventually dying, even though she was otherwise healthy, and it all came back to that. Don't mean to be scary here, just high iron counts scare me naturally...

I hope you have a better day tomorrow, but I'm glad you got to enjoy your lunch! I love eating outside at restaurants. It's so much easier for me to people gawk that way!!

Aww, sorry you didn't feel well. Maybe that was your body's way of wanting to rest? I'm glad you were able to enjoy a nice meal with your honey. Take care!

Amanda gave you some great advice - I was thinking the same thing as I read your post. I know 2 people with hemocromatosis.
Palomino sounds great - maybe I'll check it out next time I'm in Milwaukee!
